Founder and Managing Director · Dallas
Matt Williams is the Founder and Managing Director of James Earl & Company, an investment bank advising companies in the built environment and industrial sectors. He is based in the firm’s Dallas office.
Over more than 20 years in M&A advisory, Matt has led more than 100 transactions across a wide range of industries, deal structures and ownership situations. His experience includes company sales, acquisitions, recapitalizations and capital raises for founder-owned businesses, family companies, employee-owned firms and private equity-backed platforms. Founders, executives and boards rely on him for clear strategic advice and disciplined execution. He prefers complex deals—the ones without a playbook—where creativity, strategy and resolve make the difference.
Matt has spent his career working closely with company owners through some of the most important decisions of their professional lives. He believes every company has a story behind its numbers, and the right outcome comes from understanding that story and telling it well.
Before launching James Earl & Company, Matt was a Partner and Managing Director of Eight Quarter Advisors (EQA). He helped build EQA into a respected middle-market advisory firm and led notable industrial transactions with acquirers including Blackstone, Audax and GISI. Previously, he was a Vice President at Forbes Partners, a leading middle-market investment bank.
Matt serves on the board of directors of Loureiro Engineering, a 250-person, 100% employee-owned (ESOP) firm focused on integrated engineering, environmental consulting and civil infrastructure. His board service gives him a firsthand perspective on the strategic and operational issues facing company owners and boards.
Matt studied finance and accounting at the University of Colorado and holds FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses.
Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young boys. He is an avid golfer and passionate woodworker, and enjoys exploring his new home in Dallas.
